Fabiani Franca

is a Mexico city based artist, psychologist, and researcher who develops dance theatre projects focusing on emotions within social contexts. She believes in the potential of performing arts to enhance mental health by changing individual and social structures through movement.

She studied at renowned universities such as Humboldt-Universität, Alice Salomon University for Applied Sciences, and Freie Universität Berlin where she specialized in developing performance projects with people in vulnerable situations & marginalized groups, neuroscience, and psychotherapy. In June 2023, she completed the second year of the Physical Theatre program by Marc Carrera, founder of Tatwerk Berlin and
das KOLLAKTIV.

She created and collaborated with established institutions such as Junges Deutsches Theater, Universität der Künste Berlin, Berliner Festspiele or Junges RambaZamba Theater, international projects like La Luna Ensamble by the Mexican jazz composer Enrique Luna, L’Arche en France, UNESCO, and other projects as Kabarettungsdienst, Erinnert – Hautnah – Erzählt by Marina Blankenfeld, SHADOWLIGHT with Rosalin Hertrich & Marina Epp, Physical Theatre Varieté of das KOLLAKTIV, and Present Perfect Continuous by Angelo Petracca at Tanzfabrik Berlin among others.

She performed at festivals like Oooh London 2023 International Multidisci-plinary Free-Improv Festival,
26 Eurojazz 2023 in mexico-city, KLUBSZENE – Festival der Jugendtheaterclubs der Berliner Bühnen, or stages as Kunstfabrik Schlot and UNI.T – Theater of the Berlin University of the Arts. She performed among others with Frank Gratowski, Nicola Miller, Tom Kessler, Ariel Bart, and Marina Epp. She gave workshops at Theatertreffen der Jugend, hosted by Berliner Festspiele, and received the Enno & Christa Springmann Art and Culture Prize with one group project in 2023.

Besides her artistic work, she conducts psychological research on trans-generational transmission of mental stress, (sexualized) abuse, trauma, and access barriers to the health care system. In that context, she got insights into institutions such as the University Hospital of Charité – Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy of Childhood and Adolescence, and the Berlin Family Court.
